The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has taken a decisive step toward rebuilding moral standards and reawakening positive values among students through its newly introduced initiative — the Campaign Against Social Vices.

The campaign, officially launched on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, marks a defining moment for student leadership in the region. With the theme, “Reclaiming the Future: Students Against Social Vices,” the movement seeks to reshape campus culture and inspire responsible behavior across all tertiary institutions in the Southwest.

The event featured student leaders, youth advocates, and civil society representatives from across the zone, all united by a shared vision — to build a generation of morally upright and socially responsible young Nigerians.

In his address, the Assistant General Secretary of NANS Southwest, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (Billioncodes), described the campaign as an awakening of values long forgotten.

The campaign addressed pressing youth challenges, including:

• Drug Abuse and Substance Addiction
• Cultism and Campus Violence
• Cybercrime and Internet Fraud
• Sexual Harassment and Gender-Based Violence
• Examination Malpractice
• Corruption and Indiscipline

Through motivational talks, interactive sessions, and workshops, participants engaged with experts, student leaders, and moral advocates. Speakers emphasized the importance of character development, self-discipline, and the role of students as change agents within their institutions and society.

The Campaign Against Social Vices is not just a one-day event — it is a continuous process aimed at restoring sanity to student environments. The NANS leadership, through Comr. Adeyemo, emphasized that the movement will extend to every state under the Southwest Zone, including Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, and Lagos.
